Teaching & Community Time

Teaching and Community Time

From 10.00 to 10.45 we have Teaching and Community Time (aka Sunday School). We offer classes for all ages.

Adult Class:  Spiritual Disciplines of a Transformational Life – During this 12 week series, we will take a look at various timeless disciplines of the spiritual life that will deepen our journey and integration of our human and spiritual journeys.  Discussion will gravitate towards growing intimacy with Christ and transformation of our hearts and souls. This series will be based on Adele Ahlberg Calhoun’s  book, ‘Spiritual Disciplines Handbook: Practices that Transform Us.  Taught by David Sachsenmaier.

Preschool & Elementary Classes:  The Preschool and Elementary School classes are studying, at an age-appropriate level, the work of the Holy Spirit and how He comforts us and guides us.  The classes will discuss how the Holy Spirit leads us to accomplish what God wants us to do.  We will also be learning more about forgiveness, God’s peace, and what it means to be holy.

Middle School Class:  The Middle School class is studying foundational beliefs, and our call to effectively communicate these beliefs  as we “go and make disciples of all nations.”  Believing that prayer is fundamental for Christians to know Jesus, the study will also have heavy emphasis in understanding and practice of prayer, both public and private.

High School Class:  The High School class is continuing its exciting study of C.S. Lewis’  The Screwtape Letters starring Andy Serkis (Gollum of the Lord of the Rings movie fame).  The Screwtape Letters is a funny and satirical, yet deeply insightful look at spiritual warfare. C.S. Lewis maintains that proper balance between acknowledging that we have an enemy and yet not giving him too much credit.
